Today I was doing a bit of spring cleaning when it hit me....
TODAY IS VADER'S BIRTHDAY!
I cant believe I almost forgot!
My pups are my kids so I knew I couldnt let this day pass without doing something special. After I finished my cleaning I got online to look for recipes for doggy cakes. I had some ingredients for some and some from others. I didnt really feel like going to the store so I made up my own cake and I would like to share the recipe with you!!
For the cake:
1 banana (I actually used 3/4 of a very large banana)
1/4c of Flour
2 tbs of Peanut Butter
1 tsp of coconut oil
1 tsp Baking Soda
First I mashed up the banana in one bowl and I put the peanut butter and coconut oil in another
I melted the peanut butter and oil mixture in the microwave (it only takes 30 seconds).
I then added everything together with the banana and mixed it up.
At this point, Vader was pretty aware that I was cooking with peanut butter. It is his favorite.
I was just making a small cake for Vader and Lola to share so I got out a little heart shaped ramekin. I sprayed it with cooking spray and dumped in the batter.
While that baked (15 minutes at 350), I made the icing.
For the icing:
2 tbs Peanut Butter
2 tbs Cornstarch
I didnt measure the honey or water but I would estimate that I used about a tablespoon of each one.
I mixed them all in a bowl until it was smooth.
The cake turned out wonderful and it smelled SO GOOD.
Seriously, I almost didnt want to share it with my dogs.
I put the cake in the fridge to cool before I could ice it. Vader tried to get in to it, he was not very patient!
After it was cool enough, I iced it and put some random treats on top, Look how cute!!
I didnt let the dogs eat the entire cake. What kind of mother would I be if I let them eat a whole cake!?
They each were given a piece and they were happy with that.
It didnt last very long, They move pretty fast!
I typically don't do posts like this. Usually its a quick photography post and I'm done but this time I had something I really wanted to share with the world.
Okay, with the few of you that read this.
A few months ago I went through something that I dont really feel comfortable discussing on here (maybe some day) and that brought me to blog after blog and website after website reading and researching ways to help heal my body.
I came across Red Raspberry Leaf Tea.
The more I researched the tea the more I was convinced I had to try it! There are so many benefits I was confused on why I hadn't ever heard of it before.
Read raspberry leaf tea is an herbal tea and it is caffeine free. It is rich in so many nutrients : Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Niacin, Selenium, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C. Many women use it when trying to conceive, to prevent miscarriage, to ease their labor pains when they do become pregnant, as relief from symptoms of PMS, and for migraines. From researching I saw that it is great for every woman to drink it. There are many more benefits to drinking it as well.
Now, I must say.... I AM NOT A DOCTOR, this post is purely from my own experience and is not intended as medical advice. I just know it worked for me and if you want to, do your own research on RRL tea.
I have suffered from migraines since I was 14 years old. I have tried many different kinds of meds over the years. Some helped, some didnt. Over the past few months my migraines had gotten out of control and I needed to try something new.
I started drinking RRL tea at the beginning of January (2-3 cups a day). It is now March 3 and I have NOT had a migraine since I started drinking the tea. I have felt like I was going to get a migraine or have felt a small headache but I drink a glass of the tea and its gone.
I am completely amazed by it!
If you suffer from migraines I would say to try it (again, I am not a doctor and you should always consult your doctor when you are unsure).
My favorite way to drink the tea is as iced tea.
I make a few cups, I add some unsweetened cranberry juice (which has its own health benefits) some honey or stevia and some ice cubes and drink up. (there are many recipes on how to drink it on pinterest)
If you decide to try it, Let me know how it goes!
I bought my tea from amazon, you can get it HERE
