i recently had the honor of meeting a very brave, strong, and inspiring woman.
she contacted me to take pictures of her little family.
she has battled ovarian cancer and needs to begin another round of chemo
because of some remaining cancer cells.
she told me she wanted some pictures done before she lost her hair again.
during our session, we began discussing ovarian cancer awareness (check out my up coming event)
and Darcel asked if I would be willing
to document her scars and her journey through this round of chemo.
" ... I want to let people see what I have gone through, to help them understand that cancer is not always a "death sentence". It is what you make it. Yeah it is not a fun or beautiful thing, but it is real. Also scars can be scary, but there is a story behind everyone of them...."
so please check back in the coming weeks for more of Darcel's story in photographs.
here are a few pictures from our session the other day.
family is defined as a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household.
i firmly believe our pets are our children.
"A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself."
Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark,
in the hopeless swamps of the approximate,
the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all.
Do not let the hero in your soul perish,
in lonely frustration for the life you deserved,
but have never been able to reach.
Check your road and the nature of your battle.
The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.
